With these Blazer Highs, Nike pays tribute to the late African-American baseball icon, Jackie Robinson. Apart from garnering multiple accolades and MVP statuses during his professional career, Robinson is also revered for the impact he had beyond sports. His debut with the Brooklyn Dodgers ended 60 years of segregation in professional baseball, where before that African Americans were only allowed to compete in the negro and minor leagues.

Back to the sneaks, the Blazers feature the Brooklyn Dodgers logo emblazoned on the tongue, whilst the uppers are made from a woven fabric and the toe area is made from leather. The kicks also feature a “splatter” paint effect of sorts, which from far makes it seem that parts of the shoes are frayed. For those that want something with a bit more colour, red and blue colourways are available.

The Nike Blazer Highs “Jackie Robinson” are available now at select Nike stockists worldwide.
