The Cortez has been through hell and back, with Nike taking it to new levels in the late 90s and early 2000s, with many of the makeovers being rather questionable. The use of patent leather, metallic accents and faux metal eyelets almost saw the death of the model, with most fans losing interest and almost forgetting about the existence altogether.
A few months back we saw the Cortez Fly Motion get released, and from there stemmed the return of the original leather and mesh Cortez models. It’s great to see that Nike have started toning down their colourways lately, and have been taking the iconic model back to basics. They have also done well to bring back more of the basic materials like nylon and mesh.
And that’s all the Cortez really needs to be – classi, simple and fresh to death.
The Nike Cortez Nylon is available now in multiple colourways at select stockists across South East Asia.
