Lapsap (means trash or rubbish in Cantonese in our part of the world) Party is most talked about private party in town. Ever since it started about 4 months back, everyone in Kuala Lumpur has been trying to get on the invite list. We have a chance to meet up with the Lapsap Crew – 5 feet and Mr Puah for a lil chat

Waddup Lapsap? Can you tell us what is Lapsap all about? I bet this is most asked question in any interview.

LS :- Lapsap is made up of 5ft and Mr Puah, its the alter ego of Blink and Xu, …… Its also a party collectively done by “the lovely neighbours” consisting of ethan the illkidd and a whole bunch of animals.

And 5 feet and Mr Puah are really funny names, why did you guys have to come out with new identities since both of you are already so established?

LS :- well its not about established or not i guess, as said its our alter ego, maybe we talk, walk, dress and even cry differently when we are lapsap :)….who is blink and xu btw? (we know! They are our favourite DJs)

Do you guys have different fashion and music sense?

LS. :- We have similarities but we do have much differences as well, Mr Puah has a indie/punk background where as I have a hip hop background, as for fashion i think we don’t have a particular style, time plays a lot in this, we reckon everyone will change to time whether its trend, the vibe or music influenced….

What is theme for Lapsap now?

LS :- Theres no “theme” in lapsap, we just put out a subject for the month and its up to the peeps who come. Lapsap is a party not really about us but about the people. Its how they feel maybe on that particular day… ie) they feel nu rave, they come in colours next month that person might feel very goth and come in black, its just a place for people to like express their feelings in a lil’ way…..

Five things 5 feet and Mr Puah can’t live without?

LS :- we can’t live without Pork, Internet, Sex, Manchester United and all kinds of Rubbish.

What are your favourite brands for now?

Mr P. :- I have no favourite brands currently, I buy most of my stuff from second hand stores and bundle. I do like a lil’ more colours nowadays.

5ft. :- I love basic stuff. a big fan of visvim and uniqlo’s (plain tees) and surrender ( graphic tees )….im liking vans authentic, air jordan ones and leather jackets at the moment.

What are your favourite current albums :-

5ft :- M.I.A - Kala, Kanye west - Graduation, Boysnoize - Oi Oi Oi

Mr P. :- Richard Hawley - Ladybridge, Wilco - sky blue sky, Devendra Barnhart - Smokey rolls down thunder canyon.
