It’s that time of the year again for Nike’s massive Human Race day, which sees almost a million people across 30 participating countries commit to a 10km run. As like last year, Singapore is again the only South East Asian country hosting the Human Race, with the 10,000 runner spots being snapped up within a record six days.
However, if you are one of the many that couldn’t get a spot or don’t live in Singapore, fear not as you can join in the fun by entering a ‘virtual run’ of sorts. And before you ask, no – it has nothing to do with those dodgy virtual reality concepts from the 90s. All you have to do is clock in 10km on your Nike+ kicks, then upload the data here, simple as that!
For those that want a slice of the action, but aren’t able to run for whatever reason, Nike has pulled in some of the most in-demand msuic acts from around the region to send off the 10,000 strong legion of runners. The line-up consists of: Thailand’s most wanted hip-hop act, Thaitanium; Agrikulture from Indonesia; Estranged from Malaysia; Chicosci and Taken By Cars from the Philippines; and local acts Composition B and Fire Fight.
It’s probably one of the earliest gigs that we’re going to get out of our beds for, as the show starts at 7am and will be open to the first 3,000 people that turn up at the F1 Pit Straight. It will be on a first-come, first-served basis, so get there bright and early to join in the festivities!
The Nike+ Human Race 10K Singapore will take place at 7am on October 24th, 2009, at the F1 Pit Building; the route runs through Kampong Glam Mosque, the National Stadium, Kallang Leisure Park, the Police Coast Guard and Kallang Water Sports Centre.
