Artist Taka Hayashi continues his work with Vans, designing a clutch of kicks as part of the Vans Vault Fall/Winter ‘09 Collection. Here’s a look at the Velocita LX and the mid-cut Akat LX model. The collection takes inspiration from vintage military styles, Native American design and 1960’s Italian-made footwear.
Both models use premium leather and incorporate some rather nice subtle details, such as the laser-etched logos on the Akat, and the cycling band hidden under the heel flap on the Velocita. They also come with leather laces, cloth drawstring bags and special boxes.
