There are people that can do some excellent cut and sew, and there is Darren Romanelli. Dr. Romanelli, or DRx, is famed for performing miracle surgery on garments to create a hybrid of one-off exclusives, simultaneously pumping new life into old clothes and stagnant themes. The doc’s eclectic vision and distinctive aesthetics have transcended past a clothing line and has spilled out to the music and marketing industry, working on projects with a myriad of brands ranging from Warner Brothers to Jaeger LeCoultre.
DRx’s most recent line is the Surgical Strike collection. Authentic military clothing has gone under the knife in order to create a series of urban outerwear that highlights the functionality of the original garments, yet does not compromise on form.
The current Spring/Summer 08 collection of Surgical Strike military jackets are available at Isetan and Soph stores in Japan.
