Over the weekend, a close-knit group of supporters and street art aficionados sacrificed a night of Singapore’s alluring nightlife and braved their way to a desolate stretch of automobile workshops for The Killer Gerbil’s first ever solo art exhibition. The collection of works, titled Family, showcased a series of portrait sketches, photographs, as well as tagged-art on canvas, license plates and even a Vespa scooter and car.
Held for less than 48 hours at Geseho Motor Works, the event was literally hot as hell, as most of the artworks were displayed inside the garage’s paint oven. Geseho is a newly established Singaporean streetwear brand, the name derives from founder Tony Tay’s – aka Lazy – father’s garage. Geseho will launch their new collection of apparel soon and are planning to hold more events to promote the local arts/creative scene within the region.
As per usual, the live graffiti installation by South East Asia’s most notorious rodent was entertaining, as was the obligatory pyromaniac celebrations that followed. Surprisingly, Sole Obsession managed to sell off all their hot dogs and buns, and unsurprising a few of us had stomach aches the day after. Only complaint of the night is that Asahi’s generous allocation of beer went almost untouched.
Tsk Tsk. That would never happen in Malaysia. So guys, when you bringing the event up here?
