Currently on show at the Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur Gallery is Work: 1991-1995, a photography exhibition by Hashiguchi George that documents the attitude to employment within Japanese society, as to provide a better understanding on the country and its people.
The pictures were originally published in GAT’N, a commercial employment magazine, between 1991-1995; Hashiguchi delved into the observation of people of various ages, doing the exact same jobs, and how they coped with it. He also explores the loss of regional distinction in small areas/villages, as the locales sought employment all over Japan.
Work: 1991-1995 will be exhibited until 28th June 2008 at JFKL Gallery, Suite 30.01, Level 30, Menara Citibank, 165, Jalan Ampang, 50450 Kuala Lumpur (+603 2161 2104).
