The fixed gear movement has enjoyed increased popularity in South East Asia over the last 18 months. Communities such as KL Fixed and BKK Fixed have been spreading the good word of riding on a bike with no brakes, and have managed to entice a cluster of curious bystanders into becoming hardcore enthusiasts. Although communities around here are still in their infancy, other cities around the world have been doing the fixie thing for quite some now.

Fast Friday is a 45-minute feature film documentary that traces the emergence of the fixed gear community in Seattle. Originally the name of a monthly event started two years ago by Dustin Klein of Cadence Clothing, Fast Friday the movie became possible when director David Rowe joined the group and started filming. Ideally, we would like the movements around here receiving such documentation as they grow.

Fast Friday is currently on a 17 city tour as part of Bicycle Film Festival, and is also available for purchase on DVD here.
