San Francisco denim specialists Self Edge have just got in these intricately crafted Kasuri Shirts by Japanese brand Real Japan Blues. Here’s a quote from them that shows the meticulous care that has gone into creating the shirts:
“Kasuri is a Japanese textile technique that literally means “splashed pattern”. The Kasuri technique is done in the warp or weft or both threads. The threads are covered with paper, or plastic or any other material that will resist the dye then the dye is pressed into the threads by hand creating a very uneven dye pattern. Thus the warp or weft threads are dyed in patterns or designs before the threads are woven”.
If that isn’t enough for you, every white line on the black shirt as well as every black line on the red shirt is painted by hand! The attention to detail is just mind boggling – make sure to check the close-up pics after the jump.
