NEWS: adidas ZX 800

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

As much as we admire the efforts and results of the much hyped adidas AZX series, we have always found that some of the best ZX colourways have been the ones that dropped quietly when no one was looking. This rather fetching pair of ZX 800 has all the hallmarks of a sleeper hit, yet we fear it’s destined to get lost in translation due to multiple reasons ranging from A to Z. Well, if that’s the case, at least it’s one less pair of kicks to fight over.

Available in the coming months at selected adidas Originals stockists across South East Asia.

NEWS: adidas Originals x Diesel Fall ‘08 collection

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

The successful adidas Originals x Diesel collaboration continues again for a second season with this collection of jeans titled ‘Original ways to successfully waste more time‘. Although the treatments and cuts are very much Diesel, the jeans contain numerous adidas details, such as trefoil rivets, trefoil leather patches and a three stripe pseudo-selvage on certain models. Unfortunately, due to copyright wrangles, the previous collection was never released in Malaysia, and the same goes for these. Other stockists around South East Asia should be receiving their stock in the coming months.

NEWS: adidas plaid ZX 700 Boat & Superstar

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

Not the first time we’ve seen plaid on sneakers, and probably not the last, but these new kicks from adidas don’t look too shabby at all. The highlight is definitely the ZX 700 Boat. Already a popular model since it’s launch last year, the combination of the classic ZX 700 running trainer sole with the more mature looking boat shoe upper is made even more enticing with plaid accents. Those used to a more traditional sneaker silhouette can check out the Superstar.

Available this fall at selected adidas Originals stockists across South East Asia.

NEWS: adidas AZX collection

Friday, August 1st, 2008

What else is there to say  about the much aniticpated adidas AZX collection, hands-down the biggest sneaker collaboration of the year? The short version for those living in a cave: 26 kicks from adidas’ classic ZX running range, with each letter of the alphabet being represented by a leading sneaker store/ adidas supporter. The above pictured kicks are A to H, and will be the first to be released this August 8th, 2008.

The catch for most people is that the series is part of the exclusive Consortium range, only sold in a select number of stores around the world. Thankfully, Limited Edt, Singapore, recently secured a Consortium account and will be bringing in each design in extremely limited quantities. The kicks are currently in transfer and may not make it for the official launch, so it’s advised to keep up to date by signing up to LE’s mailing list at www.limitededt.com.

Clockwise from top-right: ACU ZX800; Goodfoot ZX 8000; Bodega ZX 8000; Colette ZX 300; HUF ZX 500; Footpatrol ZX 800; Limiteditions 450; D-mop ZX 500.

SPOTLIGHT: adidas Superstar 2

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Coming soon from adidas is this multi-colour pinstripe Superstar 2. It should be noted, than unlike normal pinstripe-on-kicks designs, the stripes on these are actually stitched on, which gives them an additional layer of depth. Although these might not be particularly mind-blowing, we do feel that they’re a step up from the bargain bin fodder we have become accustomed to seeing the Superstar 2 being subjected to as of late.

Available in the coming months at selected adidas stockists across South East Asia.

SPOTLIGHT: mi adidas

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

South East Asia may not be getting the highly desirable adidas mi Originals service anytime soon, but we were recently offered the chance to create our own kicks with the performance orientated mi adidas shoe customizing service, and found out there is plenty on offer. The simple service takes around half an hour from start to finish, and can lead to some rather interesting creations. We give you a quick recap on the process.

The customizing process is fairly straightforward. After choosing your desired model and getting a brief by the trained personnel, you are given access to a computer, where you input all your colour and material selections, which provides an instant three-dimensional preview on the choices made. After that, an electronic measuring device reads your exact foot size and feeds it to the computer, which will even give you the choice of choosing separate sizes for each foot.

After you confirm your designs and sizing, an invoice is printed and you can come back for collection three weeks later. Here’s what we managed to cough up, which we’ll describe as a clean colourway that employs a combination of nubuck, patent and normal leather. Yes, we were feeling a little Cinco de Mayo, so sue us.

The mi adidas service is now available at adidas Performance, Lot 5.01, Level 5, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur 168, Jalan Bukit Bintang, 55100 Kuala Lumpur; Tel +603 2141 8178.

SPOTLIGHT: adidas Superstar Vintage

Friday, July 18th, 2008

Some may remember the adidas x Oki-Ni Rod Lavers from a few years back, that featured all-over fish skin uppers; this new Superstar Vintage sports wolf-fish skin on the stripes, heel and tongue tag, resulting in a texture that is seldom seen on sneakers. The premium quality kicks also feature high quality nubuck on the uppers and shelltoe, along with a set of leather laces, making them one of the more classy looking Superstars in quite a while. A tasty treat indeed.

Available now at the adidas Originals store @ Pavilion KL, as well as selected stockists around South East Asia.

ANNOUNCEMENT: Lapsap’s 1st Anniversary Party

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

On the back of last week’s packed Lapsap vs Shitdisco gig in Zouk KL’s mainroom, as well as a barrage of slamming sets at various venues around the city, it may have slipped a few minds that the Lapsap movement started off as a private bi-monthly party at Palate Palette.

For their 1st Anniversay Party, Lapsap will be going back to their roots by holding an invite-only party at Palate Palette on 23rd July, 2008. Not only will there be free booze, but there will be three pairs of Reeboks and three pairs of adidas kicks going to the best dressed peeps of the night. Also, early birds will get adidas door gifts, whilst everyone else will get the chance to grab some posters designed by Skuirtgun.

However, the bitch at the door is going to be extremely strict at who she lets in. Luckily, Streething has managed to secure a guestlist for 10 of our members, with the first to email their name to jules@streething.com by this Sunday getting in to this exclusive party. Please don’t mail us if you’re not 100% sure if you can make it.
