For these Air Classic BWs, Nike have used several shades of brown, whilst applying suede, leather and a textured mesh-like material, to create additional depth. An interesting aspect are the references to minority baseball associations from the past printed on the insoles. Interesting not because we find them particularly engaging, but because we’re surprised that Nike didn’t go all out and slap pictures on the uppers, logos on the heels and random details on the tongues. Nonetheless, a rather nice release from one of the unsung heroes of the AIr Max era.

This month, Galeri Petronas, Kuala Lumpur, will be exhibiting Disclosure, an art exhibition by Johorean artist Ahmad Zakii Anwar. One of Malaysia’s leading figurative painters, the upcoming collection of works will showcase his development, as well as future direction as an artist.

Malaysian artist Jalaini Abu Hassan aka Jai will be holding Chanang, his first solo art exhibition in Jakarata, courtesy of Valentine Willie Fine Art. Jai’s graphic collection of works is his take on the current sociopolitical situation in Malaysia; what do you interpret the above piece, titled Pig Project, to be?

This month, Valentine Wille Fine Art, Kuala Lumpur, will be hosting two artists in their main gallery and Project Room; Susie Wong (Singapore) will be exhibiting Trace, an art installation comprising of children’s portraits, reinterpreted under Western conventions; whilst Elaine Roberto-Navas (Philippines) will present Standing Room Only, a collection of still life oil paintings that feature the use of heavy texturing.

French artists duo of Fabien Giraud and Raphael Siboni have put on their first solo art show together with an installation that made up of 324 glazed black helmets of Darth Vaders. Each helmet is equipped with a powerful microprocessor, these microchips are connected to each other while being all connected to a central computer. Throughout the exhibition, these Darth Vaders will attempt to recompose this song of darkness by working through a system of analysis and synthetic production based on a huge music library that consists of everything from punk to techno to Faure’s Requiem. This is an Artistic Artificial Intelligence on a whole new level.

“West End Girls Meet East Side Boys” is a controversial photo exhibition featuring photos of half naked Xi Men Ting girls (West side) posing with toys and kicks captured by Maco Hsu (MCP). Yes, it sounds likes an otaku’s dream come true. They have compiled these hot and steamy photos into limited quantity of photo book to be given away during the exhibition held at Leftfoot Gallery in Taipei recently. We’ve managed to get a copy of them thanks to the good people of Leftfoot. Here are some of our favourite pics!!
