NEWS: adidas mi Originals

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Earlier this year, adidas unveiled their ‘atelier‘ store concept in Berlin and New York, which draws inspiration from the expert craftmanship characteristics of an atelier, in order to bestow a finer sense of individuality and creativity to their originals line.

Part of the atelier experience is the mi Originals service, which allows customers to deck either the Superstar or ZX700 in colours and materials of their choice. Although adidas has been offering customizable footwear through their mi adidas service for quite some time, the kicks on offer are solely limited to their performance range.

The mi Originals service will spread to key stores in several major cities later this year, whilst customers in the United States will have access to the service through the adidas e-store. Unfortunately, there are no immediate plans to offer mi originals within South East Asia, but we’re hoping that we will have access to an atelier store sometime in the not too distant future.

Stayed tuned, as later this week we’ll be taking a look into the mi adidas service that is currently available at key adidas stores throughout South East Asia.

NEWS: Largest adidas Brand Center, now open in Beijing

Monday, July 7th, 2008

What says sport more than the Olympic Games? Not much, so it isn’t surprising to see the world’s biggest sportwear brands pulling out all the stops to catch some of the limelight. Last Saturday, adidas opened their largest ever Brand Center in Beijing, host city of the Olympics. The behemoth of a complex spans 3,170sqm over four floors of the Sanlitun Village Shopping Center, and is set to take the sportswear retail experience to new levels.

One of the highlights is the interactive zones, that use technology normally only available at professional training centres. Patrons will get to test their fitness levels, compare them alongside known atheletes, and receive personalized training recommendations. The Brand Center also houses a juice bar, exhibition area, kid’s zone, rooftop basketball court, and will also offer products from both Sports Performance and Sports Style divisions, so you can get your Y-3, Originals, mi adidas, and anything else 3-stripe related all under one roof.

The adidas Brand Center, Beijing, will serve as a “role model” store of sorts, with elements to be filtered down to adidas concept stores in major metropolitan cities around the world. We hope to see South East Asia getting some of the Beijing treatment sometime in the future.

NO PLACE TO HIDE

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

To commemorate the release of the upcoming blockbuster video game, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriot, Konami have teamed up with Uniqlo to release a collection of six tees inspired by the game. The Metal Gear series is famed for blending stealth and espionage action into a cinematic experience.

Fans will no doubt pick up on the references, with our favourite being the nod to the protagonist’s - Solid Snake - signature move; usage of a cardboard box to hide from the enemy.

The game will be released early June 2008 and the tees will be available around then.
