NO PLACE TO HIDE

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

To commemorate the release of the upcoming blockbuster video game, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriot, Konami have teamed up with Uniqlo to release a collection of six tees inspired by the game. The Metal Gear series is famed for blending stealth and espionage action into a cinematic experience.

Fans will no doubt pick up on the references, with our favourite being the nod to the protagonist’s - Solid Snake - signature move; usage of a cardboard box to hide from the enemy.

The game will be released early June 2008 and the tees will be available around then.

RISE OF THE ROBOTS

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

Imagine a time where there are no sneaker stores, no people to pester about release dates, no holding stocks for friends and no shop assistants that judge you based on what kicks you’re rockin’. That moment may be nearing as Onitsuka Tiger unveils the first ever sneaker vending machine.

We find it highly amusing that such a concept has never been made available before, especially in Japan where you can find everything from instant noodles to adult videos being sold on the streets by the much revered robo-hawkers.

The vending machine can be found outside the Onitsuka Tiger store in Carnaby Street, London, from 14 - 16 April 2008. If you happen to be in the area, drop by to stand a chance of winning a pair of sneakers from the machine.

NOCTURNAL NEWS

Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

Nike has teamed up with product designer, Pierre Haulot, for the innovative Virtual Park spray paint. Temporary glow-in-the-dark paint is dispensed from the cannister, illuminating dark areas for around two hours before magically disappearing. The idea is to be able to create visible markings at night so that you can play your favourite games in places that would normally be either too dark, or would not have the proper boundaries/lines/facilities.

Footpatrol has been in the sneakers business for a good five years and they have been one of the most influential sneaker stores in the world. Sadly they decidedly not to renew their lease at St Anne’s Court and the physical store will be closed at the end of March 2008. They will continue to work on special projects via their Stussy London store and The Hideout store. Do check their website from time to time for their future plans.

“To all valued customers, suppliers and visitors to Footpatrol,

Footpatrol opened in 2002 in Soho, London stocking select sneakers and footwear. Our mission was to find the best of the best across various footwear brands and to create special projects with our partners.

Our lease at 16A St Anne’s Court has come to an end and we have decided not to renew. We will therefore close the physical store at the end of March 2008.

In the meantime, we will be having a clearance sale at 16A St Anne’s Court.

We are continuing to work with our suppliers on some special projects. These will appear over the summer at our other stores - Stussy on 19 Earlham Street and The Hideout on 7 Upper James Street.

Please check our websites and Crooked Tongues for more information closer to the release time.

Thank you for your support and custom over the past five years.
