NEWS: NSW Gradient Grid Firefly Jackets

Monday, April 27th, 2009

nike-grad-jkt

The Gradient Grid Firefly Jacket combines Nike’s ACG ethos of lightweight protection with some of the company’s most innovative performance materials, resulting in a piece of outerwear that weighs next to nothing, is extremely durable and has distinct aesthetics.

The jacket is made from a mere 32 grams of water resistant micro-ripstop material, with laser cut ventilation holes around the neck and adjustable cords at the hood and bottom to keep the weather out. Also, the Gradient Grid has gone through a special printing process that bestows each jacket with it’s own unique gridded pattern, so that no two Fireflys are the same.

And if that isn’t enough, the jacket is able to collapse into it’s own chest pocket, where it folds up to the size of a small camera pouch and can be hung off something via the attached carabiner.

The NSW Gradient Grid Firefly Jackets are available now at the Nike Singapore Flagship Store, Wisma Atria Shopping Centre, 435 Orchard Road, Singapore.

NEWS: NSW Pinnacle Flywire Windrunners

Friday, April 24th, 2009

gradient-flywire

At first glance, bar the punchy gradient colour upper part, the Flywire Windrunner looks exactly like any other Windrunner that came before it. Unlike the recently released Cortez Fly Motion that beared numerous physical differences from the classic Cortez, the differences on these remixed Windrunners are only noticeable upon close inspection, and most importantly, when you wear them.

The criss-cross lines that you can see going through the upper region is the Flywire technology at work, making this the lightest version of the Windrunner to date. The jacket also features breathables holes around the collar area for additional ventilation, which combined with the lightweight material makes it highly suited for use in our hot and rainy climate. It also doesn’t hurt that these feature some of the best implementation of gradient colours we’ve seen so far this year.

These are part of the NSW Pinnacle line, the highest range in the Nike Sportswear collection, and is only available at select Nike Sportswear stockists, namely the few flagship stores dotted around the globe. Luckily, the Nike Singapore Flagship store has managed to get some in, so don’t sleep!

NEWS: Nike Air Yeezy

Saturday, March 7th, 2009

yeezy1

Is it possible to release a line of your own kicks with the biggest sportswear brand in the world AND a separate range with the biggest luxury fashion brands in the world at almost the same time? It shouldn’t be, but tell that to Kanye West, who is set to launch his much anticipated Air Yeezy sneaker with Nike soon, as well as his own range of kicks with Luis Vutton later this Summer.

The Nike Air Yeezy is a totally new sneaker designed by Kanye and legendary Nike Creative Director, Mark Smith. The kicks take inspiration from various basketball shoes from Nike’s back catalogue, and fuses them together in typical Kanye style. We get the big flappy strap, high cut silhouette, and if you look close enough you’ll see that what appears to be cement print is actually a whole load Ys jumbled up together.

The Zen Grey/Light Charcoal colourway will be the first to be released, keep your eyes peeled as their said to drop soon and numbers are limited. Also, stay tuned for more news on Kanye’s Luis Vutton range.

tailwind

The Air Tailwind ‘92 is undoubtedly one of Nike’s lesser known running classics, but there’s definitely more than a handful or dedicated Airheads out there that have been fiending for Nike to retro the kicks for quite some time, and they finally got their wish late last year. Now, the latest edition of the Air Tailwind ‘92 is hitting spots across the globe, and the simple white/orange/purple colourway stays true to those of the era – one for the seasoned collectors we think.

The Nike Air Tailwind ‘92 is available now at selected Nike stockists worldwide.

SPOTLIGHT: Nike Cortez Fly Motion

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

nikeflymotionmain

A few weeks back, we took a look at the classic Cortez model, one of Nike Sportswear’s icons and one of the most important sneakers in the company’s history. Now, a good 37 years after the original was released, Nike have remixed the kicks with today’s technology to bring the icon up to date for 2009.

Although the silhouette is still essentially the same, what the shoe is physically made of is completely different. The most obvious change is the laser cut FREE-like sole that offers increased flexibility and stability. The other most important change is the use of Flywire – used in leading performance shoes such as the Hyperdunk, Zoom Kobe 4 and Zoom Victory Spike – to form an ultra-lightweight and durable upper.

The end result is a pair of kicks that’s so flexible that you can easily bend it in half with one hand, and so light that if you place it on your lap for 10 minutes, you’d probably forget that it was there, and you get all this modern tech with the Cortez’ classic good looks – if all remixes are this good then we can’[t wait for the next.

The Nike Cortez Fly Motion is available now at selected Nike stockists across South East Asia.

SPOTLIGHT: Nike Terminator Lux pack

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

termhiluxmain

Nike’s Terminator series was on the receiving end of several quality releases last year, not only were the Vintage Terms a hit, but makeovers such as the Heavy Metals found their mark with sneakerheads and the general public alike. Now we’re comfortably in 2009, we come across the first Terminators to get out attention.

This new Lux pack features a mixture of premium leathers, with the Highs employing some crispy white uppers with purple snakeskin swooshes on the side for a touch of contrast, whilst the Lows feature a mix of black leather and dark-green snakeskin going all around the kicks for some subtle depth. Extremely nice indeed!
