NEWS: Puma “Japanese Monster” pack

Monday, March 16th, 2009

pumamon

Among the many wierd and wonderful things that we have to be thankful to Japan for, is the popularisation of giant monster movies, such as the Godzilla series, where huge beasts would for some reason or another wreak total havoc around Japan. Now, Puma will pay homage to this genre by releasing this pack of kicks dedicated to classic Japanese monster movies.

The Terror King, Lizoid King, Moth King, Ape King and Mecha King are all takes on popular characters, and fans of the genre will no doubt recognize them straight away. Each sneaker features different materials that are representative of their respective monster, whilst there are lots of small details such as the monsters skills and attributes being listed behind the tongues. A rather interesting themed pack indeed.

The Puma “Japanese Monster” pack is available now at: Limited Edt Vault, #03-12, The Hereen, Singapore, T +65 6836 9095; and Limited Edt Queensway, 01-21 Queensway Shopping Centre, Singapore 149053; T +65 6476 3835.

REPLAY: New Balance China Mask 576 launch @ Leftfoot Entrepot @ The Cathay, Singapore

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Last Saturday at 12am, Leftfoot Entrepot launched the long awaited New Balance China Mask 576 pack to a crowd of hungry sneakerheads. For those who haven’t been following Streething regularly for the past few months, the China Mask pack is the biggest project to come out of New Balance Asia Pacific this year. After the initial three kicks were announced, New Balance held a massive media event in Shanghai to unveil the Wu Shuang editions. Employing a rather flamboyant “ying-yang” sort of colour scheme and being limited to just 576 pairs, it’s unsurprising that the Wu Shuangs were most peoples choice at the midnight launch.

Before the kicks were up for sale, New Balance Singapore had a set of China Mask 576s to divide between the three best mask designs of the night. Apart from that, DJ Rough and DJ Ritz kept the beats tight whilst everyone just mingled and tried their best to finish off the generous allocation of booze courtesy of Jim Beam. The night ended earlier and more quieter than usual parties due to Leftfoot founder Anthony Ho emerging from the storeroom with five bottles of tequila, which managed to almost instantly scare off everyone in the store. Lesson learned - next time break out the hard liquor one by one instead of going the “shock and awe” route.

For a chance to win a pair of Wu Shuangs, check out the New Balance 576 China Mask giveaway we’re running.

NEWS: Rei Kawakubo for H&M

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

It has become quite common practice for the more fashionable high street establishments to enlist the help of internationaly reknown designers to work on more “edgy” collections. When executed properly, such collaborations often result in pieces that we wouldn’t normally find on their racks, whilst also injecting a healthy dose of credibility at the same time.

For the upcoming H&M store opening in Tokyo, the Swedish brand have managed to rope in Rei Kawakubo of Commes des Garcons to create this collection of garments - bringing a touch of high fashion to the high street. Hopefully H&M will decide to bring their blend of affordable prices and of-the-moment fashion to South East Asia sometime in the near future.
