If you’re accustomed to using heavy camera equipment, then the thought of having something lighter to carry around for casual use has probably crossed your mind more than a few times. However, unlike film, most compact digital cameras leave much to be desired due to the tiny sensors used to capture the images, which result in a lack of depth-of-field control as well as terrible noise compared to big ‘ol DSLRs.
Today, Olympus may have answered many a photographer’s prayers by announcing the E-P1 compact camera. The new digicam is a tribute to the classic Olympus Pen half-frame film camera, which is celebrating it’s 50th anniversary this year. To cut the long story short why it’s causing such a fuss, it’s basically a relatively small cam with interchangeable lenses and a sensor almost the size of what’s used in bigger DSLRs, which in theory results in what people have been asking for what seems like eternity – a compact with no severe compromises.
For pics and tech specs, head over to www.photographyreview.com for their rundown of the details. The E-P1 is scheduled to ship next month, so anticipate the reviews to go up on the big photo equipment sites soon. In the meantime, check out photographyreview’s unboxing video.

“This is the worst kept secret of E3 2009” Sony’s Kaz Hirai joked as he announced the launch of PSP Go at the recent Electronic Entertainment Expo. Even days before its release, online sites have been leaking images and videos about the brand new device, claiming it is the future of Sony’s handheld gaming.
Its most prominent feature is the slide-out control pad with a 3.8-inch display. It may be half the size of the original PSP console but it has a flash memory of 16GB as well as a memory card slot for expanding space. Users will have the luxury of downloading games and films from Sony’s PSP Store with the device’s Wi-Fi function. Its integrated Bluetooth capabilities also support handset tethering and headsets.
Sony has confirmed that the PSP Go wouldn’t have a slot for its proprietary UMD game disks, which literally translates to the fact that your old games won’t work with this new baby.
PSP Go goes on sale October 1st, 2009 but fear not, the existing light PSP 3000 will not be taken off the shelves any time soon, as the two will co-exist together on retail shelves.
