PRIME CUTS: Asylum

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

We recently hit up Asylum, situated in the hip Ann Siang area of Singapore, and asked the mystically named Questal to sift out three of her favourite items for your perusal. The store is filled with lots of quirky design products, and thankfully Questal chose some of the less artsy stuff, as if she magically knew we had the lethal combination of butter fingers and no money to pay for damaged goods. We also really like the Surface to Air x Justice Jacket, a m.u.s.t buy for fans.

Sorry, we won’t do t.h.a.t again…

PRIME CUTS: Warped

Another episode of Prime Cuts, this time we bug Charissa from Warped to choose three of her utmost favourite items available in the shop. Being a consignment store, at any one time Warped can be found guilty of housing some of the most hyped kicks in the whole of the land. With so much heat, what did our Miss Warped choose? The SBTG Dunks to rep for the Lion City, the Air Jordan XI bulls colourway because she’s a Jordanhead, and last but not least, Mr EDC’s ACU Footscape Woven. Why? Because they keep flying off the shelves like nobody’s business!

PRIME CUTS: Sole What?

Our next Prime Cuts victim: none other than Sole What? boss, Edwin Choong. Whilst not overseeing Sole What? and polishing his beloved collection of fixed gear bikes, Edwin manages to squeeze in enough time to run over 10 sportswear stores scattered across Malaysia. We turned up unexpectedly at his shop, only to find out it was his day off. A swift phone call and he was more than pleased to share three of his favourite in-store items with us. Don’t sleep, as everything pictured are Sole What? exclusives.

PRIME CUTS: Leftfoot, Cineleisure

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

When asked to choose three of his personal favourite items available in-store, Leftfoot co-owner Kevin Low immediately reached for the Oakley Razorblades - worn by such personalities as the late Johnny Thunders and the “Macho Man” Randy Savage. If you see him around (pictured above, top-left), remember to give him an “Ooooh yeah!” . You may get a special discount if he’s in a “macho” kind of mood.

Two sunnies are three of the favourite items from a sneaker store? Forgive them for indulging, as Leftfoot just recently become an official stockist of Oakley and have been receiving stacks of really fresh frames. This Friday, to coincide with the official opening of their latest branch at The Cathay, Singapore, Leftfoot will be hosting an eyewear launch party for the Frank Kozik Oakley Hijinx’ at the new store. Expect music, drinks and a whole host of custom Frogskin designs from friends and family.

Get your invites while you still can at Leftfoot’s Far East Plaza, Cineleisure and Holland Village branches.

PRIME CUTS: BLACK CHAMBER

Friday, June 20th, 2008

In our new Prime Cuts category, we ask people working in shops around South East Asia (and sometimes beyond) to highlight some of their favourite items available in their stores. Since we often turn up unexpected, and often unvited, our victims don’t have time to let things stew; the result is quickfire choices that represent what the particular person is feeling at that specific moment in time. Not a quintessential guide/selection by any means, just a look at what people think is hot with no justification needed.

Here we visit Black Chamber, Singapore, one of the region’s largest official stockists of American streetwear, with leading brands such as Undefeated, Alife, DQM, Huf etc under their roof. Nice choices, especially the Undefeated x adidas Top Ten Hi that comes in a box set as desirable as the kicks themselves.

PRIME CUTS: AMBUSH

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Recently, we popped by Ambush, Singapore, and literally ambushed owner Alvin Lim, forcing him to highlight his top three favourite in-store items for the month of June.

Choosing would be easy if you have some standout pieces that you really connect with, but when your store has such a stellar line-up of products as Ambush, narrowing them down to only three is a task in itself. With a gun pointed to his head, the above is what Alvin selected.

ANOTHER DOOR OPENS

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

Limited Edt, Singapore, has just become one of the select group of retailers in the world, and also the first and only in South East Asia, to stock the adidas Consortium range of products.

For those who are not familiar, the Consortium idea first materialized during the 35th anniversary of the Superstar, where a handful of leading stores/brands, such as Union, Undefeated and Neighborhood, were asked to design their own kicks; the result was a series of extremely limited vintage Superstars only to be sold at the participating stores, which in turn created a buzz never seen before for adidas releases. From a one-time-only release, the Consortium name has now evolved similarly into what Tier Zero is to Nike - the most exclusive range adidas produces for retail.

Limited Edt celebrated becoming an official adidas Consortium Door by throwing a party at The Hereen, where local street artist, The Killer Gerbil, put the finishing touches on some work whilst guests where treated with a preview of the upcoming Consortium collection. After that, everyone adjourned upstairs to Limited Edt Vault, where the goods, that included the Force Pack Superstars, went on sale.

Streething would like to congratulate the Limited Edt team for managing to secure the range for our region and making things happen.
