The rhymes, the flavor, the lyrics, the beats, and of course, the style were all iconic. Fans remember when hip-hop was first brought to mainstream audiences with the groundbreaking TV show, “YO! MTV Raps.” The popular program was an early supporter of rap by celebrating its rich legacy — featuring Doctor Dre and Ed Lover, Big Daddy Kane, MC Shan and Doug E. Fresh — all of those who fathered the Golden Age of Hip-Hop. PUMA will honor these artists and the show with a collection of fresh apparel and shoes in typical PUMA style known as the YO! MTV Raps Limited Edition Artist collection.

Based on the signature PUMA Clyde and Suede silhouettes, styles embraced by hip-hop and street culture in the late 70s, 80s and early 90s, PUMA has created four limited edition styles specific to each of the artist who were the show’s legendary hosts. True to the culture of the time, each shoe demands attention with eye-catching colors, the famed YO! logo on the tongue and heel, and unique call outs to each artist.

Zouk Singapore Celebrates YO! MTV Raps

To recapture the golden age of hip-hop and in conjunction with the launch of this limited edition collection, a special event will be held on 15 September 2007 at Zouk — Singapore’s party central and iconic entertainment venue.

For one night only, Zouk goes “Old Skool” – a tribute to the spirit of rap and its founding influences – complete with a banging street party, that includes an in-house “backyard” BBQ akin to the urban city “block parties” where rap music gained its early roots. Expect trash basketball throw-outs, arcade games and outrageous “characters” in an all night party that is not only big on attitude but on cool prizes as well from Puma.

To pay homage to the golden age of Hip Hop, PUMA celebrates Yo! MTV Raps with the release of the second round of the PUMA x Yo! MTV Raps. The collection includes four artist shoes along with matching apparel. Ed Lover and Doctor Dre(NOT Dr.Dre), Big Daddy Kane, Doug E Fresh and MC Shan will each have their own distinct PUMA Suede and Clyde, A limited number of these shoes will be available beginning September 15th at selected sneaker boutiques.

In addition to the YO! MTV Raps Limited Edition Artist collection, PUMA will launch five additional PUMA Suede colorways inspired by the show and famed hip hop era. These five styles will be more widely available at PUMA Concept Stores nationwide and will feature the show’s logo on the foot bed and tongue beginning September 15th.

Since 2003, T-Book has been making story-books of t-shirts, with each collection a narrative that “unfolds feelings you might have trashed.”

Initially a ‘t- shirt publication’ formed by two lonely designers from east London, in attempt to document emotions, statements, expressions that conditions human idiosyncrasies, T-BOOK is now full apparel collection featuring t-shirts, hoodies, cardigans, jackets, shoes and accessories.

Perennially love-struck, their t-sare coming apart at the seams with rose-coloured storylines and mix and match words for every guy and gal who wears their heart on their sleeve.

This season sees T-BOOK ’s pages clouded by lonely hearts, pining like MISSING MACHINES. Machines, as a visual metaphor for the relentlessness of missing someone. Or rather, today’s machines such as phones and clocks and laptops, that keep love together or apart.

Cogs and nuts and bolts became beautiful pattern prints on garments, as if the clothes are the machines that unleash what the hearts want to say, very boldly, ‘I MISS U’ or ‘LOVE DON”T WEAR AWAY’. There are also cheeky ‘SO LONG’ mitten scarves and sleeves to hold your person from faraway.

The latest Mark Gonzales Series - featuring adidas Superskate Vulcanized and Superskate slip-on will schedule to be released on the opening of the latest adidas Originals store at Pavillion (opening date is to be confirmed). A little background on the legendary Mark Gonzales, also known as “The Gonz“, he was one of the pioneer of street skateboarding, currently skateboarding’s most popular form. Besides, this multi-talented icon is also established designer, author, artist, and poet and publisher. Can anyone get more talented than that?
