Ron English is certainly one of the most controversial artists to emerge in the 1990’s. English is nothing if not a big picture, high concept iconoclast. He like to consider himself a folk artist. To understand what he means by this one need look no further than his pirated billboards. Since the early ’80’s he has spent countless hours turning out his Illegal Billboards for the cost free enjoyment of a delighted public, he has even racked up one second degree felony for some officially unappreciated billboards in Texas. Yeah finally Air Jordan Spiz’ike (we are still trying to pronounce it right before doing it right!) will be released in selected Nike accounts in Malaysia and Singapore end of September. The colorways of these shoes are based off of the Spike Lee’s “Do The Right Thing” movie poster.

This Spiz’ike has a patent leather yellow strip on the upper with the blue elephant print and splattered paint on various part of the shoes.

As part of the highly anticipated Fall/Winter’07 collection line-ups, adidas Originals debuts its “Black & White” collection here in Singapore on 25 August 2007. To launch the collection in Singapore, adidas has invited Theseus Chan of the renowned “perfect imperfect” WERK magazine to do a special art installation entitled adidas Originals BLACK&WHITE BLACK&WERK to celebrate the collection.

The adidas Originals BLACK&WHITE BLACK& WERK installation is the second part of WERK’s evolutionary series to explore space, objects and design dogmas. The first one being `CLANG: A WHITE BOOK’ collaboration with New York-based super photographer Clang (in Singapore) in June 2007.

With adidas Originals “Black&White Black&WERK,” WERK presented 40 objects from the adidas Originals Black & White collection set in a environment that intervenes with the adidas Originals Concept Store at Pacific Plaza. The exhibition runs from 25 August – 9 September 2007, 11am – 9.30pm. The final WERK installation “Under the Influence” will be at the Ginza Graphic Gallery (ggg) this winter in Tokyo, Japan.

For the adidas Originals Black & White collection, the key product highlight will be the limited edition Swarovski-studded all black adidas Originals Superstar 1 - Swarovski. This special Superstar gets the blink treatment with about 500 black Swarovski Crystals on each side of the shoe. Singapore will have seven pairs of this Superstar 1 - Swarovski for retail at S$799 (excluding GST) per pair.

For the “Black & White” collection’s apparel and footwear, many adidas purists will love the pieces as they feature many iconic models from the Originals’ archives and updated them in monotone colorways. The “Black & White” collection, including the Superstar 1- Swarovski limited edition shoe, will be retailed exclusively at the adidas Originals Concept Store @ Pacific Plaza beginning on 25 August 2007.
