This season, Japanese bag maker Head Porter debuts the Block series – a collection that sees a wide array of their most popular models being made over in full red, blue, green and purple block colours.

The series has just arrived at Surrender, and they’ve got the Ruck Sack, Shoulder Bag, Large Tote Bag, Boston bag, Messenger Bag, Day Pack, Small Wallet and Pouch in all four colours. As usual with Head Porter stuff, you’d better act fast before all the good stuff is gone.

Comic Book Resources provides us with a glimpse into the Star Wars Burlesque show by the Devil’s Playground. The burlesque performers were clad in recognizable costumes imitating the characters from the famous sci-fi series – R2-D2 and Jabba the Hut included!

Bag manufacturer Eastpak has joined forces with furniture designer Quinze & Milan to work on a series of collaborative furniture. First to see release is the Club Sofa 01 (pictured above) and the Primary Pouf 02.

Being “built to resist”, the furniture incorporates Eastpak product characteristics such as zippers, handles, multi storage compartments as well as colourful fabrics and popular prints. They’ll be produced in limited quantities with each individually numbered and will be presented at the Milan Design Week this year.

Acclaimed photographer/video director David LaChapelle has been shooting famous artists, celebrities and ad campaigns in his trademark “surreal” style for more than 20 years. Following on with his success in the photography industry, LaChapelle moved on to pursue fine art in his private sanctuary in Maui. Dazed managed to catch up with him to see how his move has been going.

The interview was featured in their previous issue, and they’ve just uploaded the extended version over at the Dazed Digital website.

Here are some extracts:

“Honestly, I never fucked up a job…there’s never anything I look at and say I missed a deadline or fucked something up. I didn’t. I can say honestly – and that’s why I called the book Artists and Prostitutes – I did some of the cheesiest fucking advertising you could ever possibly do, stuff that Annie Liebovitz would turn her nose up at  – but, you know, she’s $25 million dollars in debt, or $40 million, or whatever the fuck it is, and I’m not. You know what I’m saying?”

“It’s funny now, because after having been like, ‘I quit, I’m never doing an ad job again, I’m never working for magazines again,’ I softened the rule. I don’t want rules in my life anymore. Every once in awhile, I’ll do a campaign… But it’s on my own terms.”

“I use pop imagery – that’s my vocabulary; glamour and beauty is my vocabulary. They get angry when you use pop imagery (the things that are accessible) to talk about anything other than the completely superficial. And you know what? Let ‘em be angry … I’m into narrative and clarity. I’m not into obscurity. I’m not into people having to read and research – I’m just into the title, and the image, and the image being the language.”

David Flores Collective is the new clothing line by – surprise surprise – David Flores. Known for his ’stained glass’ style, he has previously worked with brands such as Kidrobot and Xlarge on projects, so he is no stranger to streetwear.

For his new line, Flores has created a series of limited edition tees based on his signature prints, with the first batch featuring the iconic characters from Star Wars.

Several well-known contemporary artists were invited by the Kids Company and Bryan Adams Foundation to work on a charity project titled ‘Shoebox Auction & Exhibition’.

Each artist has contributed a miniature shoe box version of their childhood bedrooms. The list includes Damien Hirst, Zaha Hadid, Tom Gallant and the Chapman Brothers to name but a few.

The artworks will exhibited at the Haunch of Venison in London from March 19th till 23rd, and will later on be auctioned away over at the official website.

UK based fashion label House of Holland has teamed up with Levi’s to release a small collection of denim wear for their Spring/Summer ‘10 collection.

These overalls are treated with Henry Holland’s loud and funky style and will only be available in extremely limited quantities. Check out some shots of the collection by photographer Matt Irwin featuring models Leigh Lezark and Jacob Coupe.

The Levi’s x House of Holland collection will be released on March 17th at the House of Holland online store.
