Penang Chillin’ With @Kingstonlys 🏝🎶

We tapped Penang-based Barista/DJ/Ze Arcade Paint Independant Radio Show host Kingston for a few of his regular hangout spots, the first stop he brought us to was the newly opened Fujiyama Cafe, an extension of the Fujiyama Jeans / Tokyo no. 18 thrift store that specialises in used Japanese clothing, the cafe is situated just next door. They serve up burgers as well as tasty new and used vinyl at reasonable prices and like their clothing store a lot of the stuff is from Japan.

After that, we went to Carnarvon Street for brunch at Weng Kei, a simple old-school Penang eatery that cooks up thick melt-in-the-mouth honey BBQ pork and crunchtastic roasted pork. It is recommended to get there as early as possible as they are usually sold out by noon.

Then just directly across the street is Narrow Marrow, a cool laidback cafe that specialises in cakes like Gula Melaka Cheese as well as their signature Toddy. They also have a gallery space upstairs and host loads of arts and music events.
