In a world obsessed with loud branding and trend-chasing saturation, grey is the anti-hype flex. And no brand has claimed this understated tone with more authority, or authenticity, than New Balance.
Grey isn’t just a colourway from New Balance’s archive. It’s a quiet legacy that started in the ‘80s when urban runners needed something that didn’t just perform, but looked good against the concrete of an urban cityscape. As brands introduced flashy colours, New Balance went grayscale, designing shoes that didn’t clash with city grit but complemented it. And in doing so, they created a visual language that’s endured across decades, subcultures, and style tribes.
From the streets of Baltimore to the showrooms of Pitti Uomo, grey New Balances have become a cultural constant: worn by dads, then normcore icons, then streetwear heads, then fashion week regulars, sometimes even all at once. Because grey doesn’t shout. Grey transcends trends and is timeless.
For the month of May, a multitude of footwear styles drop as part of Grey Days 2025, each one articulating a different shade of legacy. There are new models like the ABZORB 2010, current trendsetting silhouette the 1906 Loafer, and the return of the legendary 1300JP.
